Sounds like a good idea. Got any pics?

Hey Conda, how is the plumbing going?

Slow. With two kids, one a newborn, and the holidays coming, I have no time. I was planning on trying again this weekend. Since I was short a few pieces due to my error, I have not yet gone to Lowes to get what is needed.

I do have the skimmer hooked up though.

hey conda
just wondered why you did not try viynl tubing ?
the stuffs real cheap and flexible
you can get it in a reinforced variety(crosshatch config look)
rarely leaks, just double hose clamp the ends
i do it and had no leaks
you can disregard this
but just offering something else to think about
i use it on my return from the pump into a tee and up to the tank
(scwd broke)

Got any pics of your setup using it?

Quick Update for anyone still following this thread.

I finally spent some time on the plumbing this past weekend. The two overflows and return plumbing is all done. It was rather easy once I got going.

Now I need to plumb the closed loop and then fill 'er up to test for leaks. I may just plumb the closed loop to the ball valves so I can shut them and test without the CL completely done yet.

Everyone is getting on me about how long this is taking me to plumb.

Done yet?

;)

Hopefully this weekend.

I used your suggestion in an earlier post about plumbing two unions from the overflow bulkheads. By doing this, everything pieced together perfectly. I was happy with the results.

Great news Conda. Glad to hear youre still at it. Good luck and keep posting with questions (hopefully one day you ask one that I can answer!)

Phew, almost done. I'm waiting for my wife to get back from shopping to finish the closed loop. Then it's ready for water tonight or tomorrow.

BTW, how long do I need to let the glue dry before adding water? The overflow and return has been done for a week, the closed loop will be last night and tonight. Any idea how long I need to wait?

Thanks.

If it is pipe glue, I think it is like almost immediately ready.

It's that PVC cement you get from Lowes.

Yep, that tuff is like ready to use in minutes I believe.

Ok thanks.

The only thing I am worried about are the two couplings I had to use when I made a mistake. The couplings only hold about 1/2" of pipe, rather than the elbows and other items take over 1". I used some silicon sealer around the outside just to be safe. So when I fire her up, I hope there are no leaks at these spots.

Well, it's 11:00 pm on Saturday night and I just finished the plumbing! :smokin:

Phew, if anything leaks I will be ticked off!

Here are some pics of everything done:

Here is a close-up of the OM 4-way I finally figured out how to plumb. I know there are alot of angles, but this was the only way to make it all work.

Another shot of the 4-way and the drains:

Here is a shot of how I plumbed the CL intake. This was the best way so I had limited pipes sticking out. Remember, this is also my laundry/storage area, so I need every inch I can get:

Water goes in tomorrow to test for leaks. If there are no leaks, I will drain and fill with RO water and get the rock and sand in there. Maybe next weekend--hopefully.
