Custom stands

Anyone have any experience building custom stands?

Thanks I read through that this weekend and got some ideas. My stand is going to be very low and I wanted to just use 3/4 plywood.

3/4" for the top? What size tank are we talking about?

Jmadd,
I had a lowboy stand and tell you to think twice here.
This choice leaves you with NO ROOM for anything under the tank.
Unless all your equipment can go behind, next to, or in the basement.
Plywood is not the best choice here either, use 2x4's.

I agree with Vinny.....3/4" for the top is fine but depending on the size of the tank the least I would do is use 2"x4"s for the framework/base of the stand.

If the tank is a stock one and not acrylic you should not use a solid top.

The height of the stand isn't by choice unfortunately. The tank is only 34 gallons 36x18x12 the deep blue frag. The stand I was thinking of going 48 x 18 × 24.
