Custom Sump builders?

Fuzzy

Our glass Oceanic sump is starting to have tiny leaks aorund the bottom seal. And it's really too small for our ER RC180 skimmer......

Can anyone recommend a good sump builder?

Thanks,

Fuzz

I would suggest a guy named Fuzzy. Thats right DIY. Its really quite simple with a 150g I would probably do a 55 long or larger tank, you can find them pretty cheap on here or on craiglist. Grab some aquarium safe silicone from either a home improvement store or AES sells them. Grab some glass or acrylic baffles, I would suggest glass as the silcone doesn't bind with acrylic just holds it in place but it will bind with glass. I know lowes has a glass cutter and they can cut your glass to your dimensions. You can find plenty of diagrams and such on here as to how to place the baffles (dividers).

if that doen,t work for you i've seen boostable's sump and very pro looking and functional. i don't know what he has going on or if he still does sumps but you can always ask.

try www.glasscages.com they can build one or you can DIY it. they drill and comb/slot and bubble trap also. either way you choose. good luck and have a great afternoon!

and way to sell a local company of yours reefnetworth. they have nice stuff. buddy of mine bought a 120 3 years ago and still holding water

Thanks for the tips -

I was looking into buying an acrylic sump. I found LifeReef
http://www.lifereef.com/custom.html (nice -but very expensive)

And MRC http://www.myreefcreations.com/reefsump.htm
Much more reasonable - but not exactly what I want.

How much of a PIA is it to drill a 55 and what are the rough dimensions? I need to keep it at about 40" long.

Part of my plan is to get rid of my Panworld pump (way too noisy) and use 2 Velocity T3 pumps ( less current- more total gph - almost silent - way more expensive)
So I'll need to drill at least 2 holes for the return. And then 2 more holes for the inputs. And possibly two more for a refugium......so that could be a bit of a challenge.

yeah SITC drills tanks and I don't believe its all that expensive, I would do at least a 55g the more I thought about it at work the more I thought a 75g tank would work better for you. According to my "The Complete IDIOT'S guid to: Saltwater Aquariums", best book I EVER got, and 45g tank is 36x13x24, 55g 48x13x20, 58 36x18x21, 75 48x18x21, 89 36x24x24. I never knew they made a 89g tank and keep in mind these are just standard sizes and there are different shapes and builders who make things a bit different, afterall my 125g tank is only 5 foot.

i recomend contacting boostable his work it top notch!
or if you dont wanna DIY reef works has sumps in stock rite now allready built and ready to go.

Usually I'm all over DIY stuff (I'm going to post pics of my lighting rig) But I'd like to buy new on this.

I don't know Reef Works - but will Google them and see what I can find. If I can't find something reasonable I'll PM boostable.

Thanks!

Cool! I'll give Marcye a call. I didn't even know they had sumps.

My wife was there on Tuesday and pickup up a nice purple mushroom and big neon green frilly mushroom.
And a giant bag of Tropic Marin.......guess I'm set for water changes......
