I realized that Fluval Edge has become a popular nano reef set up because of how pretty it is. I have a thought- has anyone ever tried to do a Fluval Edge style tank but make it 40, 60 or even 100 gallons?
The base would have to be completely supported at that size for sure. However, what about a sealed top with wide enough opening for access to the tank and get all piping and overflow hide in the central column outside of the tank? Basically the protruded top part would be high enough to keep water level always be higher than the top glass ceiling. Auto top off perhaps, to keep the whole tank always looking like a snow globe. The sump hiding under the stand would handle most of the air exchange given how closed off the tank is.
Or maybe I am missing something really obvious (flaws) to this design. LOL
