cut off burned tips?

hey all-
i had an event a couple of months ago that caused my sps to crash.
i think it may have been alk swings, but not sure.
everything SEEMS to have stabalized, many of my sps probably won't make it.

anyway- some of the bigger colonies (only the very large) seemed to have faired better than the smaller ones. only the tips of branches are burned, some up to 2".
would it be better for the coral, which i'm sure is already stressed out, to remove these, or leave them alone? they are starting to gather algea.

keep in mind, removing them would be equal to about 25% of the corals mass. (large 12+" multibranch colonies)

friggin heartbreaking.....

I had a large pH swing from an accidental Kalk overdose which resulted in a few SPS tips burnt (although only about 1/4-1/2" with one frag lossing about an inch)...I left alone and they have since regrown over the tips....took a few months though to completely heal over. At times algae would grow on the dead tips and I would just hit the tips with a baster to blow off the algae to speed up the healing process.

I am not sure if there is a different procedure with 2+" burned tips.

I will be curious to know myself.

Same thing happened to me. Electric timer malfunction caused alk to skyrocket to bout 13. Don't know about clipping dead ends. Lmk what u do. I've been doing nothing, it hasn't been very effective.

If I lose base and it has stopped I let it be.

If its tips get them out of the way.

Whack it back into the healthy tissue a little. As long as you are sure any recession has completely stopped, in this case DO NOT seal the open end with a thin layer of glue like you would want to if you were stopping a rtn event. Parameters willing should seal itself up with flesh in a few days or so and start growing
