Cutting Acrylic with a Drill bit?

Can I cut acrylic cleanly with a very small drill bit, or do I absolutely have to use a jigsaw? I can do the drill bit at my house, in the air conditioning, or drag this sump down to our shop and do it with a jigsaw in the heat. No fun.

It's just a brace thing at the top of the tank. Not trying to get rid of it, just make it less wide by maybe an inch. It's a solid 3-4" wide and is only on one half of the sump, above the filter socks. I think maybe it's a splash guard type of thing more than it is a brace. ??

Hi. Drill bits don't really cut sideways, they are sharpened at the tips. Also, may be too weak and break if too much sideways force.

+1 on Rotozip!! I got tired of using a jigsaw since it actually melted the acrylic back together after the cut GRRRRR!!

Yeah, stoopid jigsaw would melt the acrylic almost as fast as I could cut it, but I got it done eventually!
