CUTTING my BTA

my lfs store mentioned to be something about cutting your BTA, has anyone heard of this or done this? I think it would nice to do if it didn't harm it, instead of waiting for it to split on its own.

yes..it can be done. Anthony Calfo does it all the time, just saw hi do it at IMAC..really bright guy. However there is some technique to it that I cannot fully explain so I would recommend trying to talk to him and get a hold of some of his work before you try it.

Ive done it and still do. Just slice it in half after its been properly conditioned. Its that easy.

Well fed and unstressed for 3 to 4 months before cutting. This is per Anthony Calfos recomendations. I have several anemones that are currently being conditioned and 1 that is curently being propogated.

Try to slice it evenly in half. Ive done it with a razor blade but a nice sharp NON serated knife works best. You dont want to tear but give it a nice clean cut.

There are two types of rose btas I guess one that can be cut this way and one that can not. I am not sure about the greens.

It can be done quite easily with a sharp razor. right through the mouth down the center. surprising how much they can tolerate.

I don't know if RedSonja is still around on the forums, but you might try to PM her for some advice as well. She practically has a BTA farm going in her basement, most of which she's cut.
