Cyano eating snails from Dr. Mac

Mine are very active. Ph is around 8.0.

They opened right up as I put them in the water. Could be the ph. Do you keep it that high for a reason?

No It's always been that high and I've never been able to get it down. I tried dosing vinegar but it didn't help for more than a few hours. It's strange becuase I don't dose Kalk at all which would be my first guess as to why the Ph is so high.

Our PH stays closer to 8 as well. What kind of salt are you using, Jeff? The culprit, maybe?

IO salt for the last year before that Crystal Sea with similar Ph problems. I have a new Ph probe calibrated with 10.0 & 4.0 solution & Bingman's borax solution.
I have a down draft skimmer so the tank is well areated.
