Let me guess new tank syndrome?
I did not like dosing the things that kill off bacteria in my tank I like adding beneficial bacteria to fight the bad bacteria.
I've noticed, as has Steve at Corals N More, that cyano for a lot of us tends to be a cyclical phenomenon. I typically see it when seasons change. I know in the fall when I start to have to use my furnace I'm going to get a cyano bloom. The same in the summer when I start using my A/C. I suck it out with water changes for a few weeks and it's gone for a 5-6 months.
Steve has a lot more experience with people coming in asking about how to fix cyano and his observations are the same. He said in late spring and then early fall, they sell a ton of stuff to battle cyano.
I have no idea why the change in seasons does that, but it's a consistent pattern in my tank.
