so after about 5 weeks my 12 gallon is fully cycled. has about 25 lbs of LR, 2x39w T5HO 1 actinic/1 10k. during cycling i only had my light on for 1 hr/day. i picked up my 1st little zoanthid frag today about 2" x 1" on a piece of LR . i've started it out at the sandbed. i'm not sure how long i should begin the photoperiod at and how often to increase.
tank is roughly 36" x 8.5" x 9.5"
only other inhabitants right now are 3 trochus snails

thx everyone! :)

Get a timer and set it to turn the lights on for 8 hrs a day. You pick what is the best 8 hrs for you to enjoy your reef and thats about it. Mine run from 4pm to midnight only because I work mostly mornings. With only 78w of T5 I would not be concerned about light shocking your zoa's just find a good timer and you will be set.

I run my lights from 11-8. I also have t5s. I run my moonlights from 8-11. Its a nice cycle and allows me to enjoy my tank inhabitants.

cool, i set the timer to about 8 hours. they opened nicely after about an hour in the tank :)

don't laugh at the photography :) i need a new camera..

That's a good looking first frag. I think my first ones were radioactive dragon eyes.
