cycle question

So, I'm working on setting up my first sw aquarium. It's going to be a 3 gallon JBJ Picotope. I have 5lbs of LS and just over that much LR. It's all been sitting in a five gallon bucket for about three days now, and I have noticed that the pump and waterheater have this nasty slime coating them. Is this normal?

Yes. Do a water change. Having such a small display is going to be really difficult, especially if you do not have a lot of experience. When something goes wrong, it's gonna happen quickly with potentially grave effects. Sorry to be such a downer. If you haven't read, read and read some more to ensure your success. Good luck!

ya thats the problem when you have a small water volume. If you can try to do weekly water changes
