Ok guys i was trying to search but am new to the site and am having a little trouble getting around. I set up my tank yesterday with the buffer and cycle stuff whatever it is and the salt/live sand all that good stuff. Now my LFS said i could go ahead and get live rock to put in there i guess to help the cycling and stuff is this accurate? I am gonna buy from TBS but was gonna go ahead today and pick up a couple pounds just to have some in there and wait on TBS to get the rest of my LR

Can i get some today and also would it hurt if I got some hermits and snails today as well?

BTW i have a 29 gallon tank and plan to have about 40 pounds of LR and for now im doing FOWLR. I was just gonna get 10 lbs today and the other 30 from TBS.

I would wait until your tank has cycled before adding a clean up crew.

Yes you can add your 10 lbs today .. but to be frank your 30 lbs is just fine for your sized tank and if you want to save some money you might consider just waiting for your TBS.

haha yeah i figured my 30 would be ok but at the same time on the TBS website it says that richard is out of town until the end of june so that is putting me at about 2 weeks including shipping time until i could get my rock and im just excited to get something in my tank I dont care what it is haha just want to get something in there thats why i was asking about rock/CUC.

maybe i will just see what kinda of rock they have at the LFS today and buy a few smaller pieces haha.

By all means you can add a couple of show pieces of LR at this time. If you get nice looking rock now consider curing the shipped LR in separate vats as it will keep the "show rock" in far better condition. Hold off on any cleanup crew until all the rock is in place and the tank is ammonia free.

If that LFS rock is good quality then you can enjoy watching all the life that springs out of it while you wait it out.

This may help with your setup The New Tank Thread.
