Cycle questions

So I am thinking I can hook up a cannister filter with floss and run it hard on display.. if the water clears or mostly clears it's likely a particle from my rock or other issue? If it doesn't clear it's bacterial??? Am I right in my thinking?

I'm just trying to eliminate particles from rock etc.. as I see a few bigger particles blowing around... and my rock was drilled.. thoughts??

It could very well be a particulate from your rock. As the critters start to populate the tank again, they are constantly pushing out old junk from the rocks to make room for their junk.

Running some sort of mechanical filter wouldn't hurt, just make sure to change or clean the pads every 3 days.
Are you running any reactors?

I'm running carbon in a brs reactor...

I drilled the rocks which made a bunch of powder... I didn't rinse them well enough I don't think...

just not sure that is it.. as it was clear for the first 4 weeks of the cycle... not sure what could have suddenly made the dust appear... also it cleared after I change almost all water... then suddenly cloudy again
