Cycle's Over! ... Now What?

Hello Reefers! Just a few minutes ago, my Nitrites in my small 5 gallon aquarium read 0 ppm! And, I've also got a Diatom bloom in full swing. Is it safe for me to add a hermit crab? Also, since I have Nerite snails laying eggs everywhere, should I bother buying a different snail?

I get nerite snail eggs all the time and never see babies. I've never heard of people with success hatching/raising nerite snails... but you never know.

Yes it is safe to add hermit crabs, just get the smallest ones you can find. The blue legs are great. My bigger hermits are eating my snails:mad2: when they haven't found enough food in the tank.

Nitrates? Small tank but consider a 15% water change to get nitrates down to acceptable. Add crabs, bloom will die down

yay! the fun part begins, selecting what you want in a tank. Do you have anything in mind? There are certain corals and fish that are more hardier and will do better in new tanks.

just be careful not to overstock and take it slow when stocking. you don't wanna shock the system and send it back into a cycle
