cycling a tank

ok I am starting to cycle my 75 now and I was wondering if I took my bio-wheel and bio-media and soak it into the new tank, would this help speed it up? also I am taking the sand from my old sand bed and seeding my new sand bed. any tips or advice would help. I just don't want to wait 4 weeks for the tank to cycle. I know that it is so wrong of me, but I am like a kid at christmas

I dunno.....if it were me, I would use all the water and all the rock from you old tank. Reserve some of your old sand and also continue using your bio wheels all in your new tank. if you do all that you may not even see a cycle. The benificial bacteria will likely survive.

Monitor your ammonia, trites and trates. After your trites drop and trates rise, do some water changes to lower the trates and your set to go...but go slow.

Whether that be in 2 weeks, 4 weeks, or...7 weeks

At least with the tests, you have something to play with while you wait.

ok but if I use all my H2o from my old tank , what do I do with the fish?? how about that turbo start? it did wonders for my tank when I had a mini cycle??

Do a 50% water change.
Use the waste water to fill the new tank about half way then Fill the rest with new salt water. Its just like any other water change.

thats the ticket! IMO.
seriously do that and you have lots of bacteria....you still have to wait...i feel that i have cycled tanks the quickest when i forget about them...top off and let it be. thyen you get no relapse , crash...etc..ya know. if your wondering how to speed it up there are tricks but the best way to save money due to loss of stock is wait. then expect the worst and that attitude will reward you. lol

Also, if you are curing new rock in the new system, add fresh phytoplankton. My cycles have been down to 2 weeks this way.... advantage of time is you give all the little bits time to establish. and it is much harder to do down the road....
