Cycling and setup start to finish with TBS rock. Corner tank

I thought I would start this thread because of a total lack of information on setting up a corner tank. I've also never seen a corner tank with TBS live rock. I will post pictures as often as I can edit the size of the jpgs in order to fit the size limit. My initial set up is a Model 70 reef ready corner setup from Tenecor. It has approx. 50 gal. of volume. I have the usual wet/dry sump without bioballs and Seaclone skimmer setup. I've also installed a Mag 9.5 closed loop system and 5 gal refuge. Lighting consists of 1 250Watt German MH bulb and 2 32 watt Ultra-Actnic bulbs. I've kept the tank at a steady temp of 77.2 and a constant specific gravity of 1.024 for 3 days now. I emailed Richard yesterday but I haven't head a reply yet. Just part of the total process I believe. I hope this will be an enjoyable thread for everyone. This first pic is of what the space looked like before I put the tank in.

This is a pic of the under the tank. Space is really at a premium so the refuge hangs on the ceiling. Two PVC swing arms holds the refuge in place. Also this is where the heater is kept. The skimmer placed in the sump because there is simply no where elso to put it.

This is a pic of everything installed and lights on. All parameters are stable and in good condition. Looks like it's time to get a hold of Richard and start ordering some TBS rock.

Looks like you're off to a great start!

Just curious what type of ventilation does that amount of space afford you. Also what have you done, if anything to keep the temp down. It takes me 2x 7 inch fans 2x 3.5 vent fans, and a whole lot of A/C, plus 2 gallons of evaporation a day to keep my tank at 79. Always looking for ideas in this arena (except the chiller)

Have a Blast! I will enjoy tagging along

all my lighting is 12inches from the water and I have a four inch fan installed in the hood blowing air across the top of the tank. Also during the day I keep the lid proped open. My room temp stays at 72. The only time I have any increase it temperature is when all the lighting is on and the mag9.5 pump is powering the closed loop. I will probably set the closed loop to only operate when the PC lighting is on. So far I evaporate about 3/4 gal a day when all the lighting is running normally.

Day 1 of TBS rock
These are the parameters before the rock goes in
Ammonia .03ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate 1.5ppm
pH8.4
Temp 77.2
Specific Gravity 1.024

Day 2 TBS rock is in the tank : )
total ammonia .5ppm, free ammonia .04ppm
(should I be concerned with total ammonia or do I just look at free ammonia?)
Nitrite .4ppm
Nitrate 10ppm
pH8.2
Temp 77.2
Specific Gravity 1.024
Alk High

This is a pic of the tank once all the sand was in it. Needless to say initially putting the rock in the tank was completely by feel and touch.

Hey, looks like you're having a ball. Good stuff. Any chance you can make the photos a little larger? Some are sorta hard to see.

Keep 'em coming.
