Cycling with damsels

i used one when I bought a used tank that was up and running but had no fish. I still have it and it is doing fine. Kind of wish I hadn't gotten a dammsel and I've tried to trap it a few times to give away.

Lol. There's a reason they're called DAMsels...

You're going to put unquarantined fish into your tank? Short route to a case of ich, which will kill the fish you put in later.

Killing fish is not the aim of this hobby. But it may be of a store which hopes to sell you a lot of fish before you give up. Ditch the lfs.

Cruelty to fish. You can use bit of food and there are products available to start aquariums off. Damsels may be fairly hardy and one of the cheaper fish but that's no reason to poison them!

Also if it survives and you don't want it in your display tank you've got to find a home for it. Suspect your lfs would take it back so he can sell it again making more money!

Agree. Don't do it. Better to get into the practice of qting your fish. I mean you might as well put a 100 fish in your tank to cycle it. Just because it's a cheap fish doesn't mean you should put it in a harmful environment. Much better ways of doing this
