Cycling without sump

Is it really necessary to run the whole system while doing a cycle? Won't running a power head suffice?

Sure will. I didnt even have a sump for the first year.

That would say that the process could begin before the plumbing was completed which may happen to some due to a situation. I wish I had thought of that earlier.
