cycly with sand

Can I cycle my tank with argonite sand in it?

yes you can but if that is all that you have in the tank you will want to add either some live rock or a piece of frozen shrimp to get the bacteria for the cycle going

I'm not sure what you mean by cycling the tank in this case. You can set it up, but it's not going to do anything. Sand by itself doesn't do much filtration, so adding shrimp isn't going to be useful. The tank will "cycle" when live rock is added, or when you add some sort of filter and start that going.

I have 200lbs of live rock also. Just wanted to make sure adding the sand now was ok.

Adding sand would be fine. You will just need to watch out for anything getting buried under the sand and you will probably have a small sand storm
