Cyno

Bio-Spira?

No, best of the best is IPSF.com -- their denitrifying packet or whatever they call it.

There are others. The Special Blend stuff is good. I know nothing about what I'm about to say so my logic may well be flawed, but if it's refrigerated doesn't that mean it isn't live? Much colder obviously than the natural environment.

At my pufferforum, we have looked into many different "cycling" nitrification products on the market. The only product that contains the correct, live nitrifying bacteria is Bio-Spira. To keep the bacteria from starving in the bottle, they must be kept suspended by refrigeration. Everything else is bunk.

Wow, it really got bad today! Covered every inch of the tank, over all the corals! The skimmer got clogged w/it & backed up into the tank & the water was all brown & cloudy. (The clam actually seems to like it that way though... still looks better than it ever did in the main tank.) I reluctantly moved some of the corals into my main tank (barely room). I hope that tank is healthy enough to handle what's in there. If anyone thinks that is a really bad idea (I don't want my main tank to look like the nano), please tell me quick!

I scraped the walls & cleaned the skimmer. I think the dog ate the airline though. I tried to make a new one but just cut it barely long enough to make it out of the water (I can't spare any more right now). Did a 50% water change & things look a lot better. What a mess! I really do think I'm gonna have to try some of that Chemi-Clean (already ordered it), before the corals in there that are atttached to a huge piece of LR (too big to fit in the main tank) are all dead.

Better news this morning, tank looks clear--no new cyno on glass. The corals I moved into the main tank have nothing left on them, not even the hair algae--someone's doing their job in there! I had to take apart & clean the skimmer & pump again. Mixing more salt for another water change. I'll just keep on with this, I guess...

So much for my RBTA propogation project... Of the 3 I had in there, only 1 is left. Looked/felt all around the big rock--nothing. The on that's left looks a bit poorly but will probably bounce back. I still have a nice healthy one in my main tank. Do they just shrivel up & dissappear?
