Not red just rusty color to the large pieces of substrate that seem to come to top of substrate . will try to take pic and send week or so could not send anything from picbucket. like when you spill gas on lime stone it turns rusty color.

Also, Ronny, the cyano bloom is quite normal in new tanks. I've set up two and have had it hit both of them.

Not to jump in on a thread, but I am going through new tank cyano/hair algae outbreak as well. Tanks 3+ months old now, including cycle time which was about 3 weeks.

How long does the new tank algae/cyano outbreaks usually last, obviously water params contribute, but in general whats an average time period for the tank to stabilize?
