Daily dosing requirements for a SPS tank

I really don't understand why you would choose dosing over a Ca reactor. You set a reactor and forget it most of the time. Ca reactor maintains Ca, alk, and trace elements in biologically correct proportions with out lifting a finger. I personally choose that over expensive little bottles of what someone theorizes are good for corals any day.

I have a Kalk reactor and I'm using Kalk+2. Earlier I checked my Alkalinity and it is roughly 6.5. I'm baking the Baking Soda right now. Is it wrong to put in both Kalk and Baking Soda?

I completely agree. I would never go back to dosing unless I had a small tank with minimal demands and then kalk should be enough. I can't imagine running a CaRx on a 40 breeder, I would probably dose that. Some prefer dosing, nothing wrong with it, but the CaRx is just so much easier, for me at least. There is nothing outdated about it. It has cost me about 25 bucks to run my reactor in the past year, that includes a mag supplement when needed. I can easily afford 2 bucks a month to not have to fill containers of supplements often. To each his own, both work.

when comparing a calcium reactor to a kalk reactor, I'll take the kalk reactor any day. Every body is different and has different preferences.

I run both. All top off (2-3 gal/day) runs through Kalk stirrer and Ca reactor runs a constant 50ml/min at a pH of 6.7. No other amendments whatsoever. Doesn't get any easier than that.

SPSEMPIRE...how big of a tank are you running? FWIW I like kalk too, it is easy and balanced but I don't need it any more unless I have the reactor down for cleaning.
