Damsels eating frogspawn

Hi guys my yellow tail blue damsels ate all the living tissue on my frogspawn after I put it into the tank my lfs said to buy a 5 dollar frag of it to test it out I don't have any other euphyllias I. The tank but the frogspawn looked fine at the lfs but they started to eat it when it was shrivelled up
