My black stripe damsels are mating, it is so funny to watch. This should be a pretty good sign of a healthy tank shouldn't it. I think perhaps the higher temps in my tank excited the damsels into mating. I don't like damsels as much as the others, but should I bother with the eggs, as in raising them, or leave it alone.

If you want to do it for fun or as a learning experience, go for it! On the flip side, damsels are not worth that much money, so breaking even on expenses will be pretty tough. Rotifer cultures, greenwater cultures, all the equipment, the time, brine shrimp eggs etc. Plus, by the time you deal with all the normal losses and culling out the genetic defects, you will be lucky to retain 10% of the clutch. As you get more experience that number will rise but....... Just ask Philjess. He did clowns most recently. I did neon gobies a few years back. Both of us had similar experiences.
Still yet, I'm not trying to discourage you! It would be a great and rewarding experience as long as you do it for the sake of doing it. You will almost certainly spend more money than you will ever get out of it and it is a time-consuming affair. Still, I LOVE breeding stuff and I'm always wanting to try something new.

Hmmm since damsels and clowns are essentially the same, could'nt she use this as a sort of practice run and maybe go into clowns in the future? Would'nt she need the same materials and basic investment for both fish or would the damsels need something different than the clowns?
