For some reason i cant keep a kole tang longer than 3-4 months. I feed it Nori and Rods food along with my other fish but the Kole tang always seems to start to look skinny and die. My last Kole which died Tuesday i noticed wasnt too active as he usually is, he ate that night and when i woke up he was stuck to one of the powerheads. Everything looked fine on him and he was a very active fish maybe im under feeding my fish since i just won my battle with hair algae.

I have loss two bristle tooth Tangs as well (kole & spotted) They both picked at algae, ate everything fed, but still wasted away. My tank has plenty of detrius & algae for them to eat and the water conditions are excellent, yet this species has been a mystery for me?

Perhaps they arent getting their nutritional needs met through just nori and rods... maybe try feeding a high quality pellet like New Life Spectrum. In my old 75g reef I had a bristletooth tomini tang and a kole tang, both lived over a year before I sold the setup and they were nice and fat the whole time.

There's a lot of variables, it could be parasites... but I would suspect diet.

I got live sand and its a 75g with 2 b/w clowns, 3 green chromis, 1 six-line wrasse, 2 purple fire fish, and the Kole tang. All the other fish are fine i just keep losing my tangs.
