I've been set up for a few years, recently I had a huge break out of aptasia in DT and sump, and a showing of Diatoms, I haven't moved, changed or added anything differently to the tank.
The Aptaisa was pretty bad so I decided to give them a jet wash, which really cleared almost all the Aptaisa off the rocks, (too almost 9 hours, but seems to have helped) during the same time I stirred up the sand bed every hour or so, added filter socks and ran the skimmer pretty wet.
Got everything back in the tank and everything was looking up, however the diatoms have started to return ?
I'm doing 50 gallons a week water changes, running 7stage Rodi, running a corallife x12 uv burner, and a JNS reactor with bio balls in it at 500 GPH.
My goby recently passed away (1sr fish in over a year to die) so I will be replacing him with a lawn mower Benny and another goby at the same time, I have a 8inch sand sifter star fish which has been in the tank for 4 or more years.
I'm running 2 WP60 power heads on "high W1" mode, my return pump is moving 8500 GPH.
My parameters are
Salinity 1020-1025
Amonia - 0
Nitrates - 0
Nitrites - 0
PH - 8.2
Any suggestions ?
I only feed the fish every other day, with pellets, and minimal amounts, I try to feel frozen once a week only, And add 4 cubes during the time, 1 sheet of seaweed every other day
Tank is 500 gallons and fowlr , no corals
