Dante's Marineland 220 FOWLR

@Omega_rains

The build quality on the tank is very solid. It's not an A.G.E. but I'd recommend it to anyone looking into a tank this size.

@geaux_xman

No, though I still have some rock in my 90 that I'm moving over and I will be adding some sand and rock this week if everything goes as planned.

The cool thing about the Marineland is that you have a Starfire tank that is made on a line - not a custom made tank so you are saving cash. It opens the door for a lot of people that want to go large but don't have the 3 to 4k to spend on a tank..

So true, so true. I had really hoped for one of the 300DDs but money just wouldn't allow for it.

Update: Got all of the fish in but had to get rid of the damsel. It ripped the the fins of my betta to shreds. Can't have that so the LFS I got it from gave me $6 store credit for it (I paid 5). Trying to decide on how much more rock to put in and how much more sand I need. Also trying to decide on additional fish and inverts. Will post pics in the next day or so (I've been really busy) for some feedback :-)

Reef Plus. I go to Beyond the Reef and Tropiquatics from time to time...that one place in South Elgin... I can never remember the name...but Steve over at RP has been really good in terms of getting the random things that I want (though I think I"ll have to get my seamoths from LA)

Update: so there won't be pics for a couple days (my friend can't bring her camera over yet) but I'll try to keep up with updates on progress/changes/livestock additions as best as I can. Thanksgiving might make that a bit hard though.

So I've been checking the params daily (and sometimes twice daily) since I put all the fish in and I can say that everything looks pretty awesome.

NH4+: 0
NO2: 0
N03: >1 (it spiked up to 1 after I added the fish but hasn't reached that level since)

Everything else looks perfect. SG is at 1.026, my temp stays at 80.2F 24/7 and the only problem I've had is that my neon pseudochromis jumped into my overflow and it's a pain to work around my giant strainer screens.

Pics should be up tomorrow I hope.

Happy thanksgiving everyone!!!

More updates :-)

More updates :-)

Got some pics today (well technically yesterday) as well as a couple vids to share with everyone. The first one is just of me following moomoo around in his new tank.

Earlier tonight I went downstairs to check the water softener and to my surprise I found the betta "cuddling" with my clownfish. At first I thought the betta was bullying the clownfish but my fears were laid to rest when the clownfish began defending my wounded betta against me. I got a good video of it swimming around. Amazingly it's recovering much faster than I expected (these things are bulletproof!).

Pics will be up later today!

Finally, pictures!!!

Finally, pictures!!!

Well that was the longest day-long delay I've had in a while. At any rate, as promised I have pictures of the tank so far.

My lonely little clown:

Unfortunately my betta has gone back into its reclusive shell, so getting a good pic is really hard.

The same can't be said of my falco hawkfish though. It took to the rocks almost immediately.

The kole has also been out and about quite a bit.

And of course how could I forget the wonderful moomoo

Well, that's all for now. I'm just giving the tank a chance to adjust to having a bioload in it and everything seems to be going swimmingly. In the next couple months I'm going to be ordering (hopefully) a new RO/DI unit. I'm leaving heavily toward a nice BRS unit with an added pre-filter to pull out a lot of the sediment I've noticed in our tap.
