Daplatapus's 210 upgrade

I have my water level feed into my apex. When it gets below level it turns on a 5ml dosing pump.

You have it into a tunze already, from what I have been told if you like the tunze just leave it. I have not had one though.

My programing for my ATO, via apex, is simple:

Code:
Fallback OFF
Set OFF
If Swx6_1 CLOSED Then ON
Defer 000:10 Then ON
Defer 002:00 Then OFF
Basically wait 10 seconds before turning on incase it was just a splash or whatever. THEN when the water is back at normal, wait 2 minutes to turn off to add a little bump in water.

Just to follow up on the RO/DI, float valves/switches invariably fail sooner or later. By only allowing power to your RO/DI for a set period of time per day, either by Apex or digital timer or whatever, you ensure that it never gets into a situation where it just keeps running and running unchecked.

I agree. I am going to add a secondary float that turns it off no matter what if it triggers a higher float. That way a stuck float will not have a reason to flow too much into the tank/sump.

I was just on Neptune's forum looking at what guys are doing. It seems like guys are timing how long the fill takes from low water kick in to the top float switch, then subtracting 5 min or so. Then the timer does the work and the top float switch now becomes the safety. Seems logical.

WOW! awesome build.
I am in the process of building my 210 and your build put mine to shame.
Can't wait to see it wet.

Awesome build! Love the rock work

Thanks!
Finished cementing my last little bit on the tank rock work last night with fijicrete. Man that stuff sets up quick. But it sure is solid.
Only thing I have to do now to get it wet and start things running is check all my unions, move my RO/DI unit and start making water.
I've thought of the Apex controlling the filtration and I'm liking the idea more and more. So I'm on the lookout for a decent solenoid and a couple float switches.

I've also got to finish my jarduino controller for my lighting. It's 90% complete, just have to finalize a few heat sink/fan sensors and get them mounted in the hood.

Ok, so I should have been working on my quotes, billing and crap, but I just got my doors back from getting sprayed by a buddy and couldn't stand it.
Installed the doors :)
My wife now wants fishy handles
My kitchen is all 16" S.S. Bar handles, that's what I'd prefer... going to Nanaimo tomorrow for Dr's appointment, so we'll be picking something up, stay tuned

And without further adieux...

TADA!!!!

Looks very professional! When will we see some reef?

Um... further ado, as in "Much ado about nothing." Not that this is nothing, but... just saying.

Thanks Dave.

LOL, I knew "adieux" didn't look right but for the life of me I couldn't see "ado" as right either. I'm blaming my french heritage :D

Minor update... (copied and pasted from my local forum)
Got my electric float switches in the mail the other day for my water change station. Had some time today to get a few last things buttoned up. Float switches installed in both barrels. In the FW barrel to the left they will control the RO/DI coming on and off via an Apex break out box. Then in the SW barrel the high one will kick out the pump filling the barrel from the FW barrel and the lower one will kick out my Stenner pump from doing anymore water changes. I'm also thinking of setting up an alarm on the Apex if that ever happens, to alert me I need to re-fill my SW.
I still need to wire all that up, but I'll work on that while the tank is cycling etc. I also just painted that board on the wall between the FW barrel and the sink. That's where I'm hanging my RO/DI system.

Automatic water change Stenner pump installed and piped.

And the sump with pumps installed and ready:

And finally a buddy was driving by a large retail outlet and saw all their display shelving and tables outside so he thought that was strange. Went in and asked, turned out they were replacing everything and were throwing all the old ones out!!! So he picked up several truck loads of shelving and 3 tables. I talked him out of one of them :D
Plan is to set up my QT tanks and gear on it.

Looks like this baby will get wet by the end of the week

160ish gallons done, 150 or so to go. Bumped one full tank up to 1.024, let er mix for a bit and pumped it all into the sump. Moved the 60 gal or so from the FW barrel over. 30 hours in... hopefully fire this sucker up Wed. night :)
