Dark blue purple zoo not doing well

I just bought a few zoos and one in particular is not doing well. It is very dark in color which is sort of dark blue to purple.

Since I brought it home, it seems to not be likeing my tank. All other corals are doing fine including my other zoos. This one barely opens and seems to be disappearing all together.

My question is about light. Does anyone know if this very dark color would require more or less light than normal colored zoos?

Where is it located now?

In my experience, dark purples/blues, prefer some shade. Not just to keep color, but to let them open also.

Do these have smaller or larger polyps? I am guessing they are a smaller polyp variety?

I heard some where that the true blue colored zoas are harder to keep than other colors of zoas. I'm not sure if this is true or not it is just something I was told.

did you start the coral all the way at the bottom first away from direct light source or slightly shaded first then slowly move out to the open and slowly moved up as time passes?

I also had problems to keep blue color zoas. they may doing good for a well, but things can suddenly go south.

???? Wonder why I was not getting updates on this. Sorry for not getting back to people, but I was not getting notices on this one post.

All other Zoas are doing GREAT!!!
All Polyps are doing GREAT!!!
Parameters are all fine as far as Alk and Cal.
You can read about my tank, but it is a 110 tank with around a 30 sump and fuge.
I use 2 250 watt MH...Ushio 20,000
Tank is 30 inches deep and I started this blue at the bottom and have moved it all the way to the top and it still looks the same. Today it is 20 from the surface.
I bought it at a LFS and drip aclimated it.
Some of it expands a little while others do not expand at all.
Again, all my corals look better than ever including other Zoas and polyps.
Yes, this is a very small Zoo polyp.
It has been about 2 months now and it still looks about the same if not worse.

I think that answers everyone.

The shade thing is a new concept and perhaps I will try that out. Can't lose at this point.

Thanks all

Small polyps, huh? And blue.

Definitly give it some shade with a little indirect light. You dont want it in the dark, just out of direct light.

It might take some time, and you know how fickle zoas can be, but I have to say, for the polyp you are describing, that is the best you can do. It might take some time to acclimate, so be pateint. Hope to see these polyps turn around for you.

Yes, I moved it tonight to half in shade and half in light and will see what happens. I really would hate to lose this cool Zoo!!!!
