Dark red slime in sump

This dark red slime is growing in the sump and it seems to be mainly near the surface. I have NONE of it in the display tank, and I'm assuming this is possibly an indicator that I need mroe flow in the sump?

If that's the case, how can I put something like a powerhead into the refugium area of the sump, without it getting filled up with chaeto? BTW, I try to avoid the prefilter foam things, because they fill up really quickly and with this being in an area with chaeto, I'd probably be cleaning it daily.

Sounds like cyano, I had it a LOT in my BC-29 when it was overstocked. It may just be part of your new larger tank becoming established.

I used Red Slime Remover (Seachem I think) and it was incredible! The only problem was that even after the remover worked it started growing back back after a week or two. I added Chemi-Pure Elite and Purigen and it hasn't returned in almost 6 months.

I also took the stock from 4 fish to 2, not that I think your tank is overstocked by anyone's definition.

I think the first things I will do are:
1) I just got three cucumbers...one will go in the DT and the other two will go in the sump to help keep it cleaner.
2) put a Koralia 2 in the sump. It will likely have to be cleaned frequently, but I will just put it up near the top where I can get to it easily.

If I had a better way to increase flow from the tank to the sump, I could open up the ball valve on the mag24 and it would probably do fine then.

Be very careful with Cukes, mine just eviscerated for the second time, he is now in the QT so I can load him up with phyto without polluting my main tank.

Look into specifics of whichever species you picked up to see if they are toxic when/if they eviscerate, some are not. Unfortuantely my Pink and Green is...

Don't know how you set up is, but I have a line (with a control valve) plumed from the retutn line to feed the fuge that allows good control of flow.

I may think about doing that just to increase flow through the sump. I'd just need a few things to do it.
