Darn blue leg hermits

Has anyone ever have them tear down a macro before? I have about 10 in my 37g and in the last couple days they have really worn out their welcome. I had a really nice piece of Halimeda that after settling in last week was really looking good. That was until the hermits decided to shred it, nimply snipping pieces off. Now I'm just left with loose pieces. Anyone else ever have this problem?

I'm thinking I should just get rid of the hermits and stock up on some more ceriths instead. Any suggestions? Perhaps the macro looked good to me but wasn't doing so hot, I don't know. I have saved a bunch of pieces in an attempt to get some growing again.

I would ditch the hermits, as you've found they can be destructive. Replace them with a good mix of snails, astrea, turbo, strombus, ceriths, nassarius. Also get some good quality live sand, bristleworms, and hair worms are your friends.

Let me restate a bit. Not all bristleworms are good, but the most common ones are, an id is required to determine what you've got.
They are beneficial scavengers and do a wonderful job keeping the sand clean and stirred.
