I have had great luck with viaaqua out of the 25+ ive had only a few have gone bad they also sell a titanium with digital controller and remote temp sensor for around 40 bucks on ebay. I also like the hydor in line heaters.
Lost 2 of 3 Finnex that are just 2 years old. Cold weather the other day pushed to need for a extra one so I bought a Fluval E. I would have gotten a Jagers but the Fluval was online with quick shipping.
G over at ABC hooked me up with some emergency heaters last night. Fluval something or other. I'll run these til they die. At least neither of them can overheat my tank by themselves.
I've also got blueline 250 watters on a controller. It definitely seems like there is room in the market for reliable heaters. I've read bad things about almost everything out there.
It's pretty amazing that something so dirt simple could be so problematic for our hobby, huh? I mean, it's a two cent piece of nichrome in a glass tube with a simple mechanical thermostat!
