Darn Zoa POX!

I think that's why they got the name "pox". It's not acne. As a biologist, my best guess as to the success in popping the sore is that it may release spores before they are developed enough to cause infection.

Doesn't anyone have a microscope??? Lemme go make another rum drink and see if I have any more smart aleck ideas...:wildone:

Exactly my point, maybe by popping them before they spread this would halt the spreading *now you would have to be very careful with this to not let it go back in the tank thats why when i tried i had several containers one where i would pop the blisters then another that i would vigriously shake them in and then the dip. So that would prevent it from re-entering the tank and let the sores heal insteading of spreading in the tank... i think lol. Anyways im trying it and either my zoas are gonna go to complete **** or ill have erradicated the pox.

BTW what are you doing as a biologist. Im majoring as one now

I have changed the lighting on my tank from dual 150 HQI's to Dual 250 10k moguls and also added Ecobak pellets. Since this addition over the last couple of weeks my Zoapox is gone. My entire tank seemed to be affected and I lost a ton of zoas. I have ran a chiller on my tank for nearly a year. Not sure that the temp was or is the problem.

Update from the popping the blisters in a seperate container than immediately dipping them it seems to really work so far so good.

Interesting Ernie I doubt it would be because of the light change but the Ecobak pellets couldve done something

Alright another update after popping them...

here's exactly what I did. I had 3 tupperware containers all filled with new saltwater except the second one had furan. first tupperware i popped all the pox and vigirously shook them in the water. Then the next container i had the furan 2 and dipped them all for 25 minutes with 2 packets to about 4 cups of saltwater. Then i shook them vigriously again in the new saltwater after they were done with the dip.

Til today still no pox and everything looks great. Last time i did the dips pox came back within a week.
