Dart Pump

No, that would be perfect. I use a Dart as a return on my 390 and poknsnok uses a Dart as a return on his 220.

Thanks....I thought a bit ago I was reading a thread about the Dart being used as a return and was to much for the system and the system in question was roughly the same dimensions as to what I'm planning, and there was an issue with to much flow through the sump.....Any links to threads on high flow sumps? Not planning on having tons of flow through the sump....Looking to do no more than 1200gph through the sump.

Im using an Eheim 1262 for my return pump. My tank is 48x24x24 and I have it throttled way back. I think the dart might be over kill

I use a Dart as a return pump on my 400G tank and also have a high flow sump. I have 2 sumps, a 30 G which houses my skimmer and a 90 G which the 30 G sump and skimmer output feed. my skimmer is run by 3 sedra 9000 pumps so it has a lot of flow thru it. Still with all of that flow, my remote sand bed in my 90 sump is not stirred up. Proper baffles take care of that.

If you do feel that the dart winds up being too much flow, you can always throttle it down by installing a ball valve on the output and closeing it off some. But I don't think you will need to. ;)

I am also running a ehiem 1262 as a return pump on my 72 G bowfront and I do not have it throttled back. My mesh mod Euro reef skimmer keeps up with that pump. ;)

If you want a low flow sump, the Dart is the wrong pump, unless your sump is very large.
My skimmer is supplied by two 1250 gph pumps, so I wanted a lot of flow from the tank to supply the skimmer.

I'm leaning towards the Dart not being to much for the return, since planning on the sump to be at least 48"x30"x20". The Dart is also going to be used to feed (2) reactors as well.

Crusty Old Shellback any pics of your sump to give me some ideas??? Skimmer wise for the tank I'm planning on the Reeflo skimmer....Still haven't finalized the overall tank dimensions as of yet, but considering going 60"x48"x30?

Mflamb and Nautica4 does the 1250 transfer much heat to the water?
