Darth Mauls

I have a Darth Maul showing up this week and I am wondering if they are really as prone to melting as some forums seem. Some info makes it look like they are but other info I have found suggested that they have been much hardier after the initial ones that were introduced. Just looking for some feedback and maybe some tips for success with this paly.

Except yours are not darth mauls, your are gold mauls/orange mauls which are known to be much much hardier , the real OG darth maul is actually hard to keep long term and often funguses up

The original darth maul is a deep red with black splotches , no halo or cheeks

My Gold Mauls did ok for the first 4 months or so then they melted. What started out as one polyp became about 5 or 6 and then they all withered away. So sad.
All my other zoanthids were fine.

FWIW I've had the same problem with Rastas & the Purple and Blue Hornets as well.

I had a colony for over a year a long time ago that just melted one day, now I have another colony that's doing better but I keep my parameters a lot more in check these these days. I've noticed a whooooole lot of people trying to pass off gold mauls as DM too...

Some zoas are just finicky with certain tanks.... while i have certain varieties that blow up like gangbusters.... some melt away or don't do well...

Mine grew from 1p to about 7p then melted overnight.

I had a frag of Darth Mauls briefly.. They were nice before they melted. =[
