DA's 240 lagoon

Looking great Ben! I like it!

What are your plans for moving over the livestock? I know that always gets tricky, especially if you don't have the luxury of completely cycling the new tank with all new equipment. Do you just plan on moving the old tank into a bunch of new water or do you plan on cycling the new water somehow?

The old tank is still running actually with all the equipment minus the Genesis system, so I technically have time to let the new tank cycle for as long as I want. Unfortunately, many of the corals have shown signs of stress and I've already lost a few so I'll probably be moving things as soon as things get stable.

I have about 200lbs of live rock in the garage that I have been cycling for a few weeks now. While I have no intention of using all of that or anywhere close, it should help kick start the system once its wet. I also plan on running full zeovit for the first month to help give things a boost.

Right now the biggest thing is getting everything setup the way I want it. I'm way to OCD about the equipment and with this massive tank it's just taking more time than expected.

Sump is done and leak test complete!

I have never had much luck with the sumps with tons of compartments and baffels so I stuck with what has worked for me in the past. Two sections with a double baffel in between. However, this thing is 40x30x18 so I should have plenty of space for fit anything I want in there.

hahah I guess it could make a good DT. I actually just realized that the new sump is only 8 inches shorter than my current setup. I guess its a bit roomy :lmao:

The Genesis has been hooked up and the wires all cleaned up. There are a ton of wires. 7 float switches, one interface cord, 6 power cords = lots of zip ties.

I also went ahead and made sure the Zeovit reactor fit in the return and put the reactors in as well.

Next up the frag tank and refugium. The frag tank I made but the refugium is a re-purposed sump from an old build. I ran out of acrylic and this one happens to fit perfectly so I'll just use it for now and keep a new refugium as another project down the line.

Next up, a stand for the frag tank and plumb the return and manifold. Question is should I bother with schd 80 or just stick with schd 40. The only thing is I already have schd 80 valves but it's going to cost 10x more to go with all schd 80 AND the inner diameter is smaller. Looks or function... the dilemma

I was thinking about doing schedule 80 as well till I looked at the cost. I also found that theres a lot of fitting they make in 40 that are really hard to come by in 80. When it all comes down to it your spending a ton just to have grey PVC.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that I'll have to go schd 40. I was looking at savko this morning and I can't find a few of the fittings I need in schd 80.

cool setup!!
Thanks bagz

nice zeovit tank coming .....
I won't be running full zeovit so we'll see how this works out. Either that or I'll figure out a way to automate the full regimen while I'm traveling. =)

Busy weekend so not to much work on the tank. Got the rest of the doors on the cabinet and....

LET THERE BE LIGHT!

Only the T5s are on since the halides are powered by Sfiligoi's ALCS and I guess its light out in Tonga right now which is the location I have it programed to for the light cycle

Finish up plumbing the return tomorrow and maybe plumb the fuge.

Awesome tank! Makes me wish I would have gone wider. Also love the Sfiligoi. I'm looking at replacing my pendants with the XR6 unless I go all AI (I go back and forth on a daily basis).

I look forward to seeing how you plan on aquascaping, so many possibilities. I vote for a few small islands and lots of empty sand bed.

Cryspis, I love my Sfiligoi and if you don't have a heat or electricity usage issue I definitely recommend it. That being said I may add LEDs to the edges of the fixture since my fixture was only really meant to cover about 30 inches and I have 48. I'm going to try and raise he fixture to get better coverage since I don't have a depth issue.

I did finish the plumbing so leak test is set for tomorrow! fingers crossed that everything goes well.

Tank is full and no leaks! I think this is the first time I haven't had any drips in my plumbing work

I did run into one issue. The durso sits just a bit to high since the overflow is not very deep. I modified a T and glued it directly to an adapter. Reduces the height an inch which is perfect.

Really love that stand. Tank looks gorgeous too.

I've skinned my 400 with plywood and was going to go with a white painted effect similar to my current tank with trim applied. Now I'm considering taking my skillsaw and running it with the blade set very shallow to put recessed lines in it to achieve the same look as this with one piece of wood.

Anyways keep it up I love it.
