Daughters science experiment early findings

My 4th grader is doing a science experiment using corals. She wants to find out if feeding palys makes them reproduce faster as a lot hobbyist claim it does. We have taken 6 full size Palythoa grandis "Cinnamon Polyps" and she is feeding 3 every other day and is not feeding 3 at all. We are only about 3 weeks into the project and the only development we have seen so far is one of the palys , that is not being fed, already has a new one sprouting and it has a decent size stalk (no head). I can't wait to see how this progresses. Will try to throw up some photos later.

keep us advised as that would be interesting to know...I have heard both sides of the fence on that.

The results are in. Her findings were that feeding had no effect on the growth rate or the reproduction of the Cinnamon polyps.

Also, my daughter won First Place in the Botany Division for 4th grade at her school and is moving on to regional. Proud Dad!!

I would love to see this experiment with button polyps. Cinnamon palys grow slow as a mofo. Still, GREAT project and one to be proud of. Congrats!
