Those who have been following my post about the long nosed butterfly,Well tomorrow was the day he was going to be introduced into the display.
Its been a rough month and he was finally Ich/black spot free.
Went to check on his this morning like every morning,(turn the lights on,feed, then water change) well turned the lights on.......he's not in the tank!
Found him on the floor beneath the tank half eaten (my cats got at him while on the floor) sigh.......Such a sad day for me, as he was my favorite fish and only one day left to hit the display.:sad1:

We've all been there at one point in this hobby hang in there

Edit: sorry for your loss

OMG Shawna! That's terrible, I'm so, so sorry! Seeing yours has made me want one some day.

Hang in there.

Grrrr, CATS! I love 'em and hate 'em. My three cats ripped open my ball python cage and tore her apart. SOMETIMES YOU JUST WANNA....

I'm sorry to hear Shawna. You worked hard and deserved the reward. Maybe you can start again sometime with the same type of fish. Sorry again.

Sorry to here that Shawna. Be proud of yourself that you certainly went above and beyond to try and save this animal's life. Sometimes fate can be cruel, but had it not been for your hard work it would have surely perished even sooner. Hang in there!

Wow Shawna - so so sorry to hear this.
I feel really sad for you.
We all have these things happen. Give yourself some time to grieve and hopefully you'll feel better soon.

I know, Thank you though I got attached really quickly (sounds dumb) but yeah I loved that fish. They are beautiful, tons of personality to boot! Im still in shock that he jumped! Cant believe it. He never even came near the top only to spit when he was hungry and during feeding. I should have known but I didnt know butterflys were known to jump?

Thanks so much. Ive been thinking though, Do you honestly think 1 month in Qt was to much for him? I did almost 2 weeks of prazi and then had to pull him because he came down with Ich so then 14 days in copper "Which was up tomorrow"
Im thinking maybe he wanted out! :( Can prazi be used with cupramine to keep the fishes time in Qt cut to 14 days??

Sorry for your loss. I feel your pain, I just had my clown jump :(

sorry for the loss.

FWIW I'd take one dead fish over a leaking 220 any day of the year.
Not much consolation in that but it's the truth. Cheer up and get another fish

I have overlapped Prazipro and CopperSafe successfully in QT. I start with a week of copper, then add the Prazipro afterwards. QT period of 3 weeks.

That being said, I wouldn't worry about a fish "wanting out". "You gotta do what ya gotta do" to make sure your fish are healthy and eating.

Just pick up some eggcrate before your next attempt and you'll do great!

hey Shawna...the one post that most definitely warranted a response from the big city...YOU HAVE TO GIVE YOURSELF THE HIGHEST CREDIT for what you did for this fish, and granted, i know that makes it harder sometimes when you are SO close. Cheer up, my friend...there are other fish in the....oh, nevermind. LOL.
