I got a sebae on thursday and it looks fine during the night but about 4 hours after the lights come on it starts to shrivel and stays that way until a few hours after lights go out. last night I think it started to return to normal before the lights turned off but its shrivled right now. I dont think the lights are too strong theyre only 250w and its over half way down in the tank. The only other thing I can think of is pH, I dont have a very good test kit but it shows around 8.5 during the day, I havent checked night time yet. I dont think the swing will be very big because I have a refugium. Other parameters are nitrates >10, phosphates >.03, dkh about 11.5, temp always around 78, and I use 2 koralia 3s for flow. Any ideas?

What size tank? And do you only have 1 250 watt MH?
What lights was the anemone under before you bought it?
What color is it?
I am guessing that you didn't acclimate it to your lights, is that correct?

The tank is a 125 with 3 250w MHs, the anem was under PCs or strip lights when I bought it, its yellow, I didnt light acclimate it I just put it in after the lights went out, should I have started it at the bottom?

Couple of things, the odds are very good that it is dyed -- and the track record for dyed sebaes isn't good.

They prefer to have their foot in/on the sandbed, so should move it down.

That is a huge increase in the amount of light, need to acclimate it to your lights --- use window screening.
