i am in the middle of setting up a new tank. i have a dc8 that i have had for a couple months now. i just realized the max draw for each outlet is 6 amps with a total of 15 amps all together. i am pretty sure i know the answer to my question but here it goes, can i run my dual 400watt bluewave II ballast off of the dc8? being that 800watts is roughly 6.7 amps probably not huh?

Yes, I think that you will be over the 6 Amp limit of a single outlet on a DC8. If possible and you are capable I recommend that you add a second cord so that it ballast can be controlled independently. Otherwise, you should use a DC4HD to control the dual ballast.

What happens if you go over the 6A limit? I ask because I think my chiller might be slightly over 6A, maybe 6.1 or 6.2 but I don't have an amp meter at this time.

If you are over slightly, then there are not going to be any problems. I recommend that you put a light load in the socket above/below the heavy load as they share the same heat sink. If you are significantly over it is likely to permanently damage the DC8 triac or blow the fuse.
