This bonded pair came and went so fast today I didn't get a chance to consider purchasing it. did anyone see how much the pair sold for? Thanks

Kevin was throwing me a bone I couldn't catch today with some of the pairs of fish they had offered... The joculators, ruby red dragonets, and a pair of L. rubre are all on my list of fish to breed at some point.

Does the fact they were a bonded pair indicate they were caught as a bonded pair? With this species would it be hard to create a bonded pair by throwing two relative juveniles together? Thx....

believe that dd paired them as they sometimes try and do...my lil one was in the same shipment and think Kevin mentioned they were trying to match some up...

I find it hard to believe they are a bonded pair or at least in the wild they were. I'm not sure when they reach sexual maturity but I would believe the small female would be larger. Or that both fish would be larger.

got it... thanks.. so sounds like i can create my own pair, if i learn what characteristics to look for, find two suitable fish, add them to my tank at the same time.... and a little luck thrown in...

ime they play pretty nice together...I had 4 together in the same tank for a while...still have a pair....one was sent to Hawaii and one was put in a different tank...

Bonded doesn't nessicarily mean that they are a male/female pair. At DD it usually means the fish have been getting along with each other through their time at DD. These two should make a true pair as they grow as the size difference should mean that the smaller is female or will be female if not mature yet. The larger will become male if not already. The transition from male to female can be as quick as just a matter of a few days.

Yaa, i always wonder when on-line outfits advertise pairs as "bonded". I can understand it in the case of clownfish but otherwise it seems a little misleading....

Yea, even after what you wrote I still stand by my statement. Just because you put two fish together and they get along it doesn't make them a bonded pair. I guess my Black tang and cherub angel are a bonded pair, they were added at the same time. Two fish getting along doesn't equal a bonded pair.

Being the same species and not fighting = bonded and being there is two of them that are the same = pair kinda like my socks ( most of the time)

Um no not really, hate to disagree or sound rude. But what do you call a trio of yellow tangs or a group of 4 angels? A bonded pair would need to be a female/male pair that was caught in the wild that way. They have formed a natural bond, two fish thrown together and getting along is not a bonded pair. It's simply two fish getting along and living together in a tank. I really only see this term used with angels anyways and clowns.

Phishy Business in gahanna ohio has a ruby red dragonet pair. I think they were $275 they have been there about a month.

At DD it frequently means they are getting along in side by side tanks. I have been there a few times and lots of the pairs for sale on the site are in separate tanks "to avoid aggression in the small holding tanks" to quote a worker there.
