Dd pair of bluelines

Interesting information. If nothing else, I have a better understanding of how they come into the states. I had a contact in Taiwan at one point that was just a transshipper, he sent me some videos of some awesome bluelines. He was willing to ship them directly to the local airport, but the minimums and cost were outrageous. It was really funny because there was a reflection of a guy smoking a cigarette in the tank.

Whats wrong with a fish store trying to give their customers good prices. There doesnt always have to be a catch. Just my two cents

Nothings "wrong" with what you said. But, fish, offered WAY cheaper than markert value, are suspect, in my opinion. Ive been at this long enough to see enough poor quality, doomed fish passed along for a quick buck.

Personally, now, I wont buy a fish unless I am 100% comfortable with the vendor, and the fish appears healthy. Regardless of price.

I disagree; there can be some great priced fish from stores that take very good care of their animals; it only depends on where they are getting their stock from, how much they are buying, etc. Case in point, when Red Sea fish first started coming into the states, the fish store I worked for, the owner, a marine biologist, had one of our fellow employees who's uncle was a diver and collected fish in the Red Sea.

We were able to acquire very healthy Asfur Angels, Sohal Tangs, Semil. Butterflies, just to name a few, and the number of fish lost was next to ZERO, and the prices we were given were far lower than any wholesaler. Are these fish less healthy than ones that another diver catches, then go through multiple vendors before arriving at the local store? I don't think so. In fact, since the fish we acquired came directly from the diver without being shipped to other holding facilities, their stress levels upon arrival were dramatically reduced.

To say that because it is way cheaper than market value equals a suspect fish is not a generalizable statement that applies here. There are some divers, and relations, that equate to cheaper fish for some, and more expensive fish for others, even if they are collected and shipped from the same general collection sites.

I think Jeremy is just trying to say he CHOOSES to buy from trusted sources because the low priced fish from unknown sources may be suspect. I dont think it was a blanket statement that covered every single vendor.

Back to the main posting. I seen lots of negative comments on the DD price. Although I cannot afford $900, I dont think the price was out of line for two high priced fish that are paired already. It is risky to try to pair angels yourself, so the reduction in risk has to be worth something.

Not to mention Divers Den does more to sell a healthy product than any other OFS. No one goes to the level they do to ensure thier fish are healthy.

If you look closely, this pair is the exact same as yesterday's so yesterday's buyer must have backed out.

I compared one of the fish and the pattern is identical but the other one is facing the other direction.

Look at the top fish that sold yesterday and now compare to the one's today( the bottom one). Identical

 Your not talking to the right people then.....Bluelines in general are not a rare fish, it is just rare to the states due to Japan's willingness to pay and get top $$ for them. If your able to find someone who has direct connections to Vietnam or Taiwan they are actually quite easy to come by, especially this time of year. I imagine you will be seeing these offered more often now and throughout the summer. IME, their availability becomes more scarce in the fall and winter months.
Not really correct. BlueLine Angels are found locally here and generally cost about $200. Plus I now see them less in teh Summer here. Maybe it's because they are all getting sent to LA for a 150% markup. :p

We will have to agree to disagree. Aside from your insanely specific and realistically inreplicateable situation (having a relative of the store who is the diver and collector), there is a certain baseline cost to get the majority of fish. Im not saying cheap is bad. Im saying, when a deal comes up too good to be true, more often times it is. Occasionally, it may not be. But, to me, every time, Im suspiciion. My suspicion may be unfounded, but in my experience, all too often, it isnt.

I have found that quality costs money, and gambling doesnt. That is what I mean by suspicion. If $20 wrought iron butterflies come around, Im not going to assume that the source has an "in", and everything is tip top. I going to assume something may not be right.

Again, JMO. Ferraris arent cheap for a reason. Theyre better.

Far fetched... Why wouldn't they just repost the same pics???? Still I do love a good conspiracy theory, lol!

I agree. The picture of the male is the exact same fish. They both have the same small black blemish in the middle and the exact pattern.

does it realy matter if they are the same pair as yesterday or a diffrent pair??? it wouldnt make any diffrence to me if i was in the market for a pair of blue lines or if i had the cash at the moment for a pair of blue lines.. if it is the same pair i would asume they are as healthy today as they were yesterday and if they are a diffrent pair then i would assume they are as healthy as yesterdays pair concidering who had them forsale..the same pair or a second pair realy makes no diffrence

I would next to guarantee its not the same pair. Why do people hate on DFSLA so much? All they do is provide the best quality fish. And are in so much demand that people clamber over each other to buy them.

I don't see how saying the male is the same fish is hating on LA?? Match up the patterns, and yes, it is identical. Everything matches up, including the black mark Recty pointed out. Observing this doesn't mean we hate LA or think they do a poor job of caring for their fish.

Maybe they changed the photo because they got better ones on the second try, who knows? The photos from today are much prettier imo!
