De or Se halides

I need to know which is a more powerfull bulb, the de or se metal halide bulbs. I was using 400w se for many years and changed over this year to an Aquamedic aquasunlight 2 x 250w. These are driven with a Coralvue dual electronic ballast. Im not at all happy with these lights as they look dull, unless Im using these crappy Giesemann 14k bulbs.

It might just be your ballasts because I had the same fixture with the same bulbs exept I ran the aquamedic m80 ballast and loved those bulbs. They were very bright and were a nice clear white color. Looked more like 10K's. I also ran Phenix 14k's on it and they had great colors as well. If you know anyone with a magnetic m80 ballast you can barrow try it out and see.

I doubt Im going to find any Aquamedic m80 magnetic ballast in South Africa. Im going to try another brand bulb soon, dont know if it will make any difference.
