Dead/Dried Sea Sponge

Coming from growing up in florida, we have lots of dead things such as sponges, sand dollars, shells of big snails, etc. I am getting my sh tank prepared for my new little buddies and I came across a huge dead dried sponge. Im trying to figure out if it would be okay to put it in the tank or if it would decay super fast and be an absolutely terrible idea. Please lmk your opinions. Thanks

I wouldn't put anything porous like a sponge skeleton into a setup. At the very least, it will get dirty (and likely raise your nitrates unless you clean it all the time) and SH tanx are dirty enuff (nitrate-wise) as it is.
