dead fish

so i had a friend grab me a naso yesterday and well by the time i had got the naso he had already been sitting in the bag and floating in friends tank for about 4-5hrs before i could make it there (was at work). anyways got him home noticed while acclimating he had white dots all over him .well my friend actual had the naso in the same bag as his emerald crab but waited for me to arrive before taking the emerald out also to keep air in the bag to not cause any problems with ammonia and what not.anyways after acclimating for 1hr the fish wasn't looking to good needless to say he died about 1hr after being in the tank.what do u think was the cause too stress ful with being in a bag with the emerald for a long time? or just my luck of the draw and killed the naso. my acclimating was 1 full turkey baster every 5 mins for 1hr. ive done this way for my other fish, they all seemed really happy last night so i don't think anything was wrong with my parameters although i didn't have enough time to check them.

any suggestions? trying to consider if im at fault or a mutuall fault
 
Under no circumstances would I put any kind of Tang in a Display without first quarantining it for six weeks whether it had "white spots" or not. Regardless, that fish spent too long in a bag. If you really want to assign fault, you both can share it. Next time, don't enlist a friend to buy fish for you. Get new fish when you have time to devote to its acclimation.
 
Oh, and a Naso needs a very large tank. I have read some of your other posts indicating you have a 60 gallon tank. A Naso would not do well in that tank.
 
i know i should quarantine first i just don't have the time nor the extra equipment to quarantine right now. and i wasent sure what time the friend was going to get the fish i had just made plans the night before to buy the fish there was never a set time. but if i were to have a fish shipped it would of been in the bag for about 24 hrs and probley miss handeled. apposed to the 4-6 hrs from the time of pick up.i'm wondering if the emerald crab had anything to do with it.
 
I hope you will read and consider the posts above. "Not having time" is not conducive to success in this hobby (or conducive to healthy livestock).
 
yea i get it. not everyone is going to quarantine there fish or have the proper size tank. im only asking for help for an explantion on possibilities as to why the fish died. that is all i wasent asking for people to critisize my purchase or what not.

I agree with the QT & tank size comments above; you may not want to hear them, but need to. You were attempting to add a sick fish to your tank. If I was going to do that, I sure hope someone would speak up.

Fish do not suddenly become covered, in what sounds like ich, while spending time in a bag. Certainly, this fish was already infested with ich and that probably contributed (or caused) the death. Ammonia may have played a role as well. If just a drop of water (like from the baster) went from the bag to your DT, you've possibly introduced ich to that tank as well. Your friend has ich in his tank, ich doesn't just show up because of "stress". I'd let him know.

i don't think it was ich is was big white spots on his body what i was told is they do that when stressed.i'm not sure if this is true or not, anyone have experiance with a stressed out fish or tang with white spots.my cousin saw the dots and confirmed it went ich
 
as much as you want everyone to tell you in reality no one can tell you if the fish died form ich or not we haven't seen the fish and don't know what the fish looked like when your friend picked it up I suggest you keep a close eye on everything else in your tank if it was ich could end up being a huge problem I personally do not buy fish unless I am going straight home and from my LFS that way the fish isn't in the bag more then a hour tops
 
that's what i figured if people are getting fish shipped then a few hrs floating before it was i'm my possession should be fine. i just don't understand why the fish died other then being to stressed out. yes it had white spots all over his body from stress but whether or not i quarantined him i feel he would have died either way.
 
In order to be successful in this hobby, you need to let down that defensive mode and listen to the advice above. These are very smart people who are only trying to help you. If you wish to only accept your own diagnosis of the problem and are not willing to listen to the experience of others, you will suffer continual losses. I ask that you read this thread again with your defensive shields down, take the advice offered.

i think those spots look like the spots a stressed fish may get. your fish died because it was in the bag too long. i know fish from reputable online stores ship fish and the fish stay in the bag for much longer, but you indicated in your posts that the you got the fish from an lfs. The vast majority of lfs bag fish with the indication that the fish be released from that bag in a short amount of time. This is why stores like big als will give you an acclimation guide on the order form. That guide would never tell you to keep the fish in the bag for several hours.
 
Those pretty much appear to be the stress marks typical of a naso. If you look carefully at the DD photos of their nasos, sometimes you will even see the spots there also. One way to be certain is to look at the OTHER side of the fish. Stress spots will pretty much be symmetrical, whereas ich spots are not. (Also, stress spots are flat.)

That is correct.
 
I put a tang in my tank and he had ick ..2 weeks later dead..now all my fish are pretty much dead... I got 3 left out of 12 ...be careful
