Hello!

i have filled my new tank with new live rock and old dead live rock which have been stored in freshwater for a cuopple of monts.
can the dead rock become alive when it's used in my tank with new live rock?
if yes, will it be able to keep anaerobic bacteria and brake down nitrate as new live rock?

All rock becomes live rock after enough time if the tank is seeded with other live rock. The more live rock in the tank, the faster, and more diverse dead rock will become live rock!

Stay on top of your saltwater levels...8 dKH alk, 425-450 CA, and 1300-1500 for Mg. Your dead rock will live again and you will begin to see some coraline growth after a couple of months.

i am using reef crystals now because i think it's a better salt than tropic marin pro reef. i have not taken any tests of calcium or mg yet, but i will do it later.
thanks for your answers, buddies

about 30 percent is new live rock, is it enough?

Well, sure, dead rock can become live rock... its the foundation of the GARF bulletproof reef method actually. One thing that has not been mentioned is that it must be limestone or dead coral based rock... trying to convert lava-rock, tufa, granite, etc... that wont work. If the rock isnt calcium based, it wont work. It doesnt sound like thats the case here, but I just wanted to be sure.
