Dead Maxima

Last weekend I got a 4 inch Maxima from a guy who was taking his tank down. It was looking fine until yesterday when the mantle slid down inside. I removed the clam and put it in my sump and today it was a gonner. I removed it and the insides would slide out the bottom. It did not smell to bad, and I did not see anything on it.

I have other clams that are doing fine. Do you think I should do a good size water change?

Get the tissue out of the tank if you can. If your tank parameters are good, then it should be fine.

You could run some carbon if you do that sort of thing.
