Dead Naso Tang

Hi everyone,

yesterday I lost a blonde naso tang, which all this time had been doing real good in the tank.

In the past two weeks I spotted a few dark grey patches on its light grey body and realized that it's not eating as well as it used to. It was slowly getting thinner at the bottom of its body and not accepting much food.

I found it dead yesterday.

What were those dark grey spots on the sides of its body? I mean could I have prevented its death?

It definitely wasn't stressed, cuz no fish in the tank bullied it and tank params are perfect. Most likely, as you said, it was parasites. Loved the fish, sad loss :(

Naso's have a tendency to just die on you.. I went through three and then I just quit.

The longest one lived was 4 mos

I've had my naso for over 6 months now and he is really healthy. I have a clown tang that is terrorizing him now more than ever. They use to get along until recently. I have tried numerous times to catch the clown tang to take him out without success. I have too many corals to take the rock out. Anyone have any brainstorms on how to catch this clown tang before he kills my naso?

not wo taking out the rock...

U can use the screen method, and put in a screen and slowly move rocks from one side of the tank to the other... just make sure the tang is on the side you take the rocks out...

when all rocks are on the other side of the tank use screen to slowly shrink area he is in till you can catch him with the net.

They sell fish traps put a piece of nori in there and when the clown tang takes the bate (hopefully he gets there first) close the latch and bam all locked up! or you can try one of those gallon size zip lock bags and just hold it there and hope he is brave enough to eat with you waiting for him.

Just tore half my reef apart by I got that clown tang out of there finally. All my other fish are swimming around much more. My naso is happy again.
