If you have a quarantine tank, stick them in there. If not, just give it time, unless you notice any predators on there. I had some zoanthids take over 2 weeks to open for me after a similar situation happened. I did lose 90 percent of the polyps, but some survived and are starting to color up again, after 4 months!

Keep us updated.

I'm too intoxicted to make a detailed observation of your pictures!
:)
Best of luck!>!>!

Let me ask you something if you were me and you paid for a nice colony would you ask for a refund or deal with the 90 percent Polyp lose.

I did ask for a refund on my 90 percent polyp loss, but it was an individual seller and he was some what of an A$$ to deal with. I did eventually get a couple free frags... that were also in bad shape when I got them.

It could have been coincidence, but I very much doubted... I will never take a shipped order from this person again.

I would ask for a partial refund, or something to replace it. Being as though shipping can sometimes be tricky, you do take the risk when purchasing a living thing and having it shipped. But, any resonable person would offer some kind of consolation. Even if it is a 30% return, at least you're not left out completely.

Again... everything might spruce up tomorrow and be fine, you just never know.

MRCORAL,

who or where did you get them from?

was there any unexpected delay in shipping? was it packed and insulated correctly?

it totally depends on where you got them from. if it was an individual hobbyist, then expecting a refund is kinda hard. if its a legitimate business, and something happened to delay the shipping, and they state they garuntee a 'live arrival', i think you should ask for at least a partial refund.

bottom line, just b/c they are stressed, you shouldn't jump the gun and demand a full refund just yet. just explain they dont look well, and ask the seller if they offer any refund if the colony doesnt make it.

Not going to say names yet. I don't want to bash anyone but he is stalling. I have been doing this a while and they are long gone. But, I will give it time they are in a tank that the zoos are huge so we will see.

What was your vote? Dead or Stressed?

Here is the deal I paid for overnight FEDEX which was stated on the website. Then I got a emailing saying it was sent DHL overnight. Never made it the next day.

In my opinion there is a HUGE difference between DHL and Fedex. One obvious difference is the price. I payed $60 for fedex overnight guaranteed by 10:30AM and I payed $20 for DHL overnight. My person preference is fedex .. they seem to handle things better. If it were me and I paid for what I thought would be fedex overnight, and instead it was DHL i'd complain especially if they are making extra money on shipping... Just my .02.

ohhhh, i think i know what happened. this happened to a bunch of people from the same person last week if i recall. this person usually has used FedEx, but switched to DLH recently.

if the package was supposed to be there friday morning, but was delayed until today, the situation was that the DHL sorting facility lost power, which caused all over night shipments from the west coast to sit in their ohio facility all weekend long.

so if you got these from the same place, that i know of several other people who had this just happen today also, i'd say that this guy is a very good dealer and is not trying to rip you off.

the reason why he may be stalling, is b/c DHL promised to fully insure any deaths caused by delays in shipping on there part. so he is probably filling a claim, to see if he can get reimbursed, and in turn you will get reinbursed if he gets reimbursed.

it puts his business in a tricky spot, b/c you are in the same boat as like a dozen other people and their shipments. so if all the livestock, from all of the shipments dies, thats a HUGE loss to his business if DHL will not reimburse for their mistake in killing everything that was supposed to be shipped overnight.

as far as them being stressed or dead, if they sat in the holding facility all weekend they are obviously stressed. but i've seen severely stressed zoas, that sat on the airport tarmac through 30degree weather for an entire day pull through eventually.

monitor their progress over the week, if they dissolve away into nothing they obviously died completely. give the seller some time to talk to DHL and hopefully things will get straightened out.

hope this helps.

This is what is stated on his website when I placed the order. How do you ship? We ship via FedEx Priority Overnight, so that your corals are there as early as possible. While others prefer different shipping carriers, we have found that FedEx provides the best service to ensure that your corals arrive both safely and on time, whereas other shippers tend to provide the less expensive, but slightly less popular shipping method of using old, disgruntled soccer stars to move your coral across the country. When buying from other sites, please make sure they're shipping Priority Overnight to ship your corals, a lot of sites charge a premium for shipping, and then ship Standard Overnight, which not only hurts your corals, but your wallet as well.

Since then he has change it to DHL.

I agree on the DHL thing when I was trying to find this package they had no idea were it was. You get what you pay for.

yeah, i'm pretty sure he forgot to update his site that he's using DHL instead. he just changed last week if i heard correctly, because FedEx had killed numerous shipments and would not reimburse him (thousands of dollars worth), so his business was taking it up the arse, so to speak due to FedEx's negligence.

keep taking pictures of the coral's progress, the condition of the box etc. if you are polite about this to him, i'm sure you all can work something agreeable out.

you just gota see it from his side, since it obviously wasn't his fault, and if everyone he sent shipments out to also lost all of their livestock, DHL has GOT to take the blame on this and reimburse him.

now, if there was a big cost difference b/w what he charged you for shipping, and what it actually cost to ship using DHL...then i'd say you had a very legitimate gripe. as he should have informed you before it was sent out.

My problem here I guess is his tone in his emails if there can be a tone in emails.

I asked him how long I have to wait until he admits they are dead which guys they are FOR SURE. Here is his email.

Hello Sunny,
I’m not sure, however long it takes the stressed zoos to open up, it could vary

My issue is Vary? Give me a time frame a month a few days. I had to email he 10 times to get a answer. He stated a week which is fine with me but rest assure just by his emails I'm going to have problems.

this thread is drifting from zoo forums into vendor experiences...

also, sufnvb7 how did eeeeeveryone hear about that delay? is there a thread I'm missing? what a loooong weekend with that one :)

yeah, i can bet that was a long weekend. i hope DHL pulls through on their side though, since it was obviously their fault in one way or another.

all of us zoa-heads have telepathic powers, so we all know what everyone else is thinking at all times. think of it as *the force*, when a large group of zoas die somewhere in a shipping warehouse, we all feel a little pain inside ;) ;) ;)

ok, see, now that I have to respond to, I responded 10 times to the emails (5-7 days were my estimates, as of 11 emails ago), and every time received an aggressive and angry response, each more aggressive and angry than the last, until I had to inform this customer that I'm not his personal verbal punching bag, and that communication would cease after any more aggressive and angry responses. as a matter of fact, all that I have received so far from this customer starting friday afternoon have been aggressive and angry responses, let me repeat the absolute best advice that has been given in this thread

I guess at this point it may as well be moved into vendor experiences

also, I have not stalled once, never have, and never intend to do so, I answer every customer's emails promptly and efficiently, I have simply not given this customer the exact answer that he expected to hear, it seems that anything other than what he wanted to hear was unacceptable, and would not be listened to, only replied with an even more aggressive response

Note... I said right away that it could vary. I lost 90% of my polyps... but you might not. Why not wait it out and see what happens. I'm sure that seller will want to work with you bro.
