Dead or Stressed out Zoos?

Hello Sunny,
I’m not sure, however long it takes the stressed zoos to open up, it could vary

That was my issue. That email!! I emailed you how many times before you told me a week? That is stalling in my book. I heard what I wanted to hear and I will email a update on Sat. With new pics and hope everything will be fine. I did not want to mention any names because I wanted to give you a chance but you have to understand I spent really good money with you and your emails were not answering any of my questions. I'm not hear to bash anyone I just want what I paid for.

Please handle that issue privately. In this forum, we'll just let you know that in the matter of how long the zoas will open, yes indeed... "it can and will vary". That too me is a pretty direct straight forward answer. It sounds to me like he just told you one week to make you happy. It is possible that it could take much longer, or you could wake up tomorrow to a few open polyps.

I hope that these polyps can be saved. Please give updated pictured on here too. I would like to see the outcome, maybe even some shots midweek!

yeah i agree, please handle the matter privately with organism, or at least on his vendor forum.

before miguel responded, you asked us for our opinions 'without naming names', and we graciously gave our responses to the best of our experience and knowledge without pointing any fingers.

i myself am impartial, and can easily see both sides to this. so how bout everyone just sit back and crack open a beer, and give this a couple of days to settle out, so at least mr.coral can wait to see if they open (be sure to take plenty of pics), and organism can get the proper paperwork filled out with DHL to possibly get a reimbursement.

mr.coral, you of all people should be compasionate in this situation, as your positions could be easily reversed since you guys are both in the coral business. ;)

i had the same thing happen with someone on this board......most of the 30+ polyp colony died off.......i have 5 baby polyps left....what should i have done

I will give updates daily and take pics if I have time. I spent good money I willing to wait a week as stated.
Thanks guys.

I say its stress related. 3 days isnt bad for zoos-- even 5 days isnt bad.. If there is no sign of fungus, which you havent yet mentioned, it could be tank conditions-- too much light, SG, params.. anything..

Zoos dont die, and just fall off (IME) they rot away with some type of fungus or slime bacteria covering the surface.

Do the zoos show any signs of peeking out?

well, after surfnvb7's post I had to check out ebay, and sure enough, there I found mr.coral, and absolutely had to post is this gentleman's shipping policy

Don't be scared to use 2 day shipping to save money. Zoos are tough guys and I have seen them last a week at the post office. One reason why were are going with UPS.

from someone who got free shipping, which is provided better by dhl than by fedex, in my opinion, to complain that all of their zoos must have died from two day shipping when they themselves send by two day shipping, and state that zoos can easily survive longer, and then email pictures of stressed zoos and state that they are "going to dump them," I find this highly duplicitous, and this customer's motives for a refund have been cast into question in my opinion, seemingly driven more by commercialism and an inability to turn a faster profit on them than as a hobbyist waiting to see if a stressed colony will open. I highly look forward to pictures this week

Agreed.

Pictures will be coming soon. Just got home I will give daily pics until Sat. Just what I see right now. There is no way guys I will take a bigger pics with a better camera so you can veiw it they are long gone. The question is can it hurt my tank? Anyfeedback on that?

I dont think it will hurt the tank. IF it has a fungus, I would dip it in lugols to kill the infection, but it doesnt sound like thats your problem. It sounds stress related, could be from the shipping, could be from the tank param/lighting.

Matt, before I put them in the tank they smelled like the worst thing you have ever smelled in your life. Trust me not the tank. I have tons of zoos going crazy and they are in the lower light part of the tank.

Thanks for the input. I will post pics in a sec.
